NCAA leading scorer Jimmer Fredette plays for BYU and is widely known to be a Mormon, and that has led many people to ask whether Jimmer served a mission for the LDS church.
The answer is "no" according to USA Today -- after praying about whether to serve a mission, Fredette decided not to, and he believes that his fame as a basketball player has done as much for the church as a mission would have done: "I've had numerous situations where people have told me they've checked out the religion because they knew who I was and they heard about my religion."
At least one fan agrees with him. Scott Lambson at BleacherReport.com calls Jimmer "the greatest Mormon missionary in the world."
